Approach

Founded by Michael Drake in East London in 1977 as a tie and scarf-maker, Drake's is now one of the most world-renowned names in luxury menswear with boutiques in London, New York and Seoul. Fusing a classical British sensibility with louche Italian style and elements of workwear and sportswear, everything Drake's produces embodies their ethos of 'relaxed elegance'.

Drake’s' interlocking challenges demanded a holistic solution. We worked seamlessly across strategic consultancy, hands-on ecommerce management, paid media and CRM to turn their digital business around, drive it back to profitable growth and deliver a roadmap for onward success.

Challenge

Constrained by an outdated Magento infrastructure, fragmented international storefronts, and heavy operational overhead, the business required far more than a standard platform migration. To unlock sustainable global trade, they needed a comprehensive digital, operational, and organisational overhaul. The key blockers included:

  • Operational Inefficiencies: Their existing platform had ongoing integration challenges as well as incurring significant manpower overheads to manage and update, and their were structural and operational issues within the business that sat outside the immediate ecommerce remit that were impacting their ability to trade efficiently.
  • Platform & Growth: Drake's was looking to migrate off their Magento platform and onto a more efficient and accessible tech stack, whilst also growing their online trade.
  • Global Consolidation: A further consideration was the consolidation of global storefronts into a more operationally friendly solution, and the client needed support with vendor selection, team hiring and ongoing growth support and stewardship.
  • Holistic Need: It was clear that for this transformation to be successful, a holistic approach was needed that went beyond redevelopment or marketing.

The Commercial Impact

By taking a holistic approach that went beyond redevelopment or marketing, we resolved supply and demand bottlenecks that were impacting their ecommerce. Overhauling and revamping ERP, WMS and CRM vendors improved trading efficiency and delivered significant year-on-year growth.

FAQs

What does Heur actually do?

Accordion Arrow

We're a commercial operating partner for ecommerce brands. We embed senior operators into your business to own strategy, trading, paid media and CRM, with solutions crafted around your specific needs.

What size of business do you work with?

Accordion Arrow

Product-led DTC brands, generally £1m to £25m+ in ecommerce revenue, with a sweet spot around £10m. The common thread is a strong product and brand looking for the right architecture and delivery mechanisms to scale.

How are you different from other ecommerce agencies?

Accordion Arrow

The difference lies in visibility. A channel agency owns one account and answers for that account's metrics. We view channels alongside margin, stock and the customer base. This allows trade-offs to be made holistically, ensuring we answer for the business's bottom line rather than a single channel's performance.

What does the engagement structure look like?

Accordion Arrow

A weekly strategy or trading meeting, always-on Slack access throughout the week, and a deeper monthly review against the roadmap. Everything runs in 30-, 60- and 90-day sprints against a longer-term plan.

Can you work alongside our internal team or existing agencies?

Accordion Arrow

Yes – integrating alongside existing teams and agencies is a common operational setup. We provide the senior strategic layer, aligning all internal talent and external partners to a single, unified commercial plan, ensuring seamless execution without disrupting the roles that are already performing well.

How much does an engagement cost?

Accordion Arrow

It depends on scope. Engagements are priced against ecommerce revenue and complexity rather than a flat rate. Once we understand your turnover and goals, we can put a clear number in front of you.

Do you build or design websites?

Accordion Arrow

We're not a design and development agency. We work with a trusted network of development partner agencies to support with clients' dev requirements, and can provide stewardship, project management and commercial strategy support to ensure projects are delivered to their full potential.
